Write the condensed structural formulas and names for all the constitutional isomers with the formula C4H9Br

Write the condensed structural formulas and names for all the constitutional isomers with the formula C4H9Br

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Given M.F. C4H9Br. Corresponding hydrocarbon formula C4H10 (1 H as compensation for Br is added). This formula fits into the formula CnH2n+2 for saturated hydrocarbon hence no sites of unsaturation or ring present.

4 carbons could be arranged in 2 possible arrangements viz. Normal butane (n-Butane) and Isobutane and each isomer gives 2 constitutional isomers and hence totally 4 constitutional isomers possible. As we can see in diagram their condensed structures and name given.
