A block wieghs 10 g and is 2 cm on each side. When it is connected to a scale and submerged in a liquid, it weighs 2g. What is the desnity of the liquid?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

length of each side = 2 cm

volume of block = a^3 = 2^3

volume of block = 8 cm^3

weight of block = 10 g

apparent mass when submerge d = m g

                                                     = 2 x 9.18

                                                     = 19.6 g

19.6 - 10 = density x volume

9.6 = density x 8

density = 1.2 g/cm^3
