When to use GC versus HPLC?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

HPLC and GC both are different methods of chromatography which are basically sepsration technique for organic compounds based on partition between two phase (mobile and stationary phase).

HPLC (High Pressure Liquid Chromatography) is an advanced method of seperation of mixture of mainly organic compounds where solid is the stationary phase and liquid is the mobile phase.

In HPLC, the solvent is passed through the column under high pressure using pressure pumps. and it is a very useful in quantitative and qualitative analysis of pharamceuticals.
