Extraction is a unit operation where separation is based on preferential solubility of a mixture in a solvent. When the solute (A+C) is contacted with a solvent, suppose A is more soluble in B so A and B becomes extract and rest is raffinate. The solvent needs to be recovered preferably by distillation.
