According to the following reaction how many grams of ammonium nitrate are needed to form 24.7 grams of water

Homework Answers

Answer #1

The rxn is
NH4NO2 → N2 + 2 H2O
now from above rxn we see 1mole of ammonium nitrite yields 2moles of water
=> 1 mole of ammonium nitrite =64.06 grams
=> 2 moles of water = 36 grams.
Now we can say that 36 grams of water are yielded by 64.06 grams of ammonium nitrite
=> 1 gram of water is yielded by 64.06/36 grams of ammonium nitrite
=> 24.7 grams of water are yielded by (64.06 × 24.7)/36
=> 24.7 grams of water are yielded by 43.95 grams of ammonium nitrite
