Homework Answers

Answer #1

2Fe2O3------> 4Fe + 3O2

2 moles        4 moles

2 moles of Fe2O3 gives 4 moles of Fe

2*2.5/4 = 1.25 moles of FeO3 gives 2.5 moles of Fe

But efficient is 95%

1.25*95% = 1.25*95/100 = 1.1875 moles of Fe2O3

mass of Fe2O3 = no of moles * gram molar mass

                       = 1.1875*160 = 190gm

190gm   ---------> 77%

190*100/77 = 246.7 gm of Fe2O3 is required >>> answer

Core Chemistry Skill: Using Molar Mass as a Conversion Factor Learning Goal: To convert between mass and number of moles. The conversion factor between mass and number of moles is called molar mass. By consulting the periodic table , we can determine that the molar mass of NaCl is 23.0 g/mole+35.5 g/mole=58.5 g/mole This number tells us that 1 mole of NaCl has a mass of 58.5 g . The conversion factors are 58.5 g1 mole and 1 mole58.5 g...
