What are some sources of error - that are NOT human sources of error - for a recrystallization lab?
Recrstalization is technique of purification of compounds by selecting solvent or mixture of solvents.
Errors are mentioned below,
1. Selection of solvent:
Proper selection of solvent is important if not then compound will not puirify.
2. Use of excess solvent:
Excess use of solvent can not allow dissolved material to come out.
3. Mixture ratio:
Proper mixtuer ratio is important to get sufficient polarity that specific material has to come out.
4. Selection of temperature:
Approptiate temperature while dissolving solute as well as during crystallisation is important.
5. Complete crystalisatiom:
Do not keep material for taking all compound comes out. Complete crystalisation can bring impurity with pure product.
