How to draw the lewis structure for O3 and identify the Major contributor? because it has resonance structure. Also, my teacher said if the formal charge are same in lewis structure, we should pick the O- to be the Major, but what if we see an example that one O- and O+ appear in the resonance structure. Should we pick the O- to be Major contributor or the O+?

Answer #1

first of all one should know the total valence electrons of each atom and then whole molecule. Based on this total no of electrons you have to arrange them as shown in the picture. Here one oxygen is having +1 charge another oxygen is carrying -1 charge. Valency of oxygen is 2 but according to the lewis structure, it should be as your teacher said. And here nothing to pick one oxygen. Hope you understand.

Draw the correct Lewis structure and calculate the formal charge of each atom in the N2O molecule (N is the central atom.). Use the resonance structure of the molecule N=N and N=O bonds, (i.e., N=N=O) to determine the formal charges. A. N = 0; N = –1, O = +1 B. N = +1; N = 0, O = -1 C. N = -1; N = +1, O = 0 D. Sex Education and Teenage Pregnancy Santrock (2016) mentions in his text that the United States has one of the highest teenage pregnancy rates of industrialized nations, despite the fact that adolescent sexual activity is no higher in the United States. Why is that? For starters, sex during adolescence is considered a "taboo" subject in our culture. Abstinence is also promoted and touted as the most safest, surefire way to avoid the consequences of early sexual activity. Additionally, we teach teens...

This laboratory assignment involves implementing a data structure called a map. A map associates objects called keys with other objects called values. It is implemented as a Java class that uses arrays internally. 1. Theory. A map is a set of key-value pairs. Each key is said to be associated with its corresponding value, so there is at most one pair in the set with a given key. You can perform the following operations on maps. You can test if...
