What is it meant by an ideal gas? Under which conditions does a real gas behave most like an ideal gas?
Thank you in advance!!
ideal gas is a gas in which there is no interaciton of any kind between molecules.
There is no loss in collision between molecules; therefore, they can be modeled with the ideal gas law
There are some definitions which I find redundant, but are valid. An ideal gas is a gas that will be modeled 100% according to the ideal gas law
If we want to stop interaciton between molecules, we need to avoid those being near each other
If we increase V; then we decrease collisions
if we increase P; we force higher interaction and collision, therefore, avoid high P
high T will make the contianer expand, therefore favour high T
Conditions for a REAL gas to behave as IDEAL:
- Low P
- High T
