4. Which reagent(s) will distinguish between cyclopentanol and cyclopentane?

A) Br2/CCl4

B) KMnO4 (cold)

C) CrO3/aqueous H2SO4

D) NaOH (aq)

E) A) and B)

The answer is C but I don't understand because CrO2, H2SO4 oxidizes an alcohol to a carbox acid or a ketone and I only have a secondary alcohol for cyclopentanol. Please explain this. Thanks!
