To separate them, follow the following steps.

1. Pour some water to the mixture of sand and salt.

2. Heat the mixture with water till all the salt dissolves.

3. Filter out the sand. Wash the sand with clean water and dry the sand.

4. The filtrate is the solution of the salt. Heat it till all the water evaporates leaving behind the salt.
