Answer #1

Favism is a response of body due to intake of Fava Beans. Mainly this condition developed in children or infants who have Glucose 6-Phosphate Dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency and this is an inborn condition. G6PD is an important enzyme for carbohydrate metabolism of Pentose phosphate pathway (HMP Shunt). Due to absence of that enzyme hemolytic anemia occurs. As a result less blood present in body and yellowish skin , dark urine with weakness appears. Fava beans causes mutation of gene responsible for G6PD enzyme formation. African and Middle East Asian people suffers mostly due to genetic race.
