Define equivalence point. How is it related to conductivity? and
why is it reached when conductivity is minimum? (not maximum)
The equivalence point is the point at which the conductivity undergoes a sudden change in acid -base titration.
in general acid base titrations are performed by adding little amount of catalyst in the laboratory. but by using electrode coductivity experiments we can save the indicator there is no need of indicator in conductometric experiments.
here H+ have some mobility and OH- also some mobility independent acid H+ has greatest mobility in the acid solution which can by known by conductometer . on addition of base to this acid the mobility of H+ ions decreases due to H+ forms water with OH-.
at equivalence point there are no mobile H+ or OH- so conductivity minimum value
