Question

how many protons and neutrons and electrons. in 27 Al 3+

how many protons and neutrons and electrons. in 27 Al 3+

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Atomic number of Aluminium Al is 13.

The number of protons present in an atom is equal it's atomic number.

So the number of protons present in Al is 13.

Here, 27 is the mass number
Mass number = no. of protons + no. of neutrons
number neutrons = 27 - 13

= 14 neutrons

For neutral atom number of protons is equal to number of electrons.

But here Al have 3+ charge so it have 3 electrons less.

Hence number of electrons =13-3 = 10

27 Al 3+ has

13 protons

10 electrons

14 neutrons

The nucleus of an atom consists of protons and neutrons (no electrons). A nucleus of a carbon‑12 isotope contains six protons and six neutrons, while a nitrogen‑14 nucleus comprises seven protons and seven neutrons. A graduate student performs a nuclear physics experiment in which she bombards nitrogen‑14 nuclei with very high speed carbon‑12 nuclei emerging from a particle accelerator. As a result of each such collision, the two nuclei disintegrate completely, and a mix of different particles are emitted, including...
