Answer #1

Answer:

The method solvent exchange , which comprises adding slowly with stirring to the aqueous solution complex , a solvent miscible with water , but in which the complex is insoluble . This method has the disadvantage that , in some cases , the complex can be separated in amorphous form of oily appearance, which is difficult to obtain shaped complex crystal . Furthermore , potassium oxalate which may be present in solution , It is also insoluble in ethanol , which may be coprecipitated with the complex , Thus taking away impurities the product was recrystallized from larger crystals and purer product .

I am working on a chemistry lab which involved recrystallization of Kw[Fex(C204)y(H20)z] (unknown ratios are a part of the rest of the lab) and was wondering about a few of these questions: 1) Another way to obtain crystals is to add 95% ethanol to an aqueous solution contains Kw[Fex(C204)y(H20)z]. 1. An evaporation-crystallization process is used to obtain solid potassium sulphate from an aqueous solution of this salt. Fresh feed to the process 18.6 wt% K2SO4. The wet filter cake consists of solid K2SO4 crystals and a 40 wt% K2SO4 solution, in a ratio 10 kg crystals/kg solution. The filtrate also a 40 % solution, is recycled to join the fresh feed. Of the water feed to the evaporator, 42.66 % is evaporated. The evaporator has a maximum capacity of...

At one point in the procedure, dilute hydrochloric acid is used to neutralize the solution. Specifically, what is being neutralized? (there is more than one answer here.) Procedure: Place 200 mg sodium methoxide and 400mg sodium borohydride into a 50mL beaker with 10mL Methanol. Stir the contents of the beaker genetly and let it sit undistrurbeded for 15minutes. Preparation of the 9-fluorenone solution Into a 250mL beaker place a 500mg 9-fluorenone, crushing any large pices of the solid. Add 10mL...

Below is the background info for the lab assignment. The 4 blank boxes are the questions I would like answers too. The end point for the fine titration was 35.90 mL in the burette when the solution turned bright green again. And the coarse titration I got 35.36mL as the end point. 35.9 mL is exact in case you need that info. Thanks! In this experiment you will construct a smal electrolytic cell. Then using indicators you will determine the products fromed at the anode and the cathode druing several different electrolysis experiments. About the experiment: in the first part of this experiment you will construct a small scale chlorine production plant. it is a miniature of the real, large scale process used for production of chlorine by the electrolysis of sodium chloride or brine (procedure written by Dr. Stephen thompson, CSU, CO)...
