Are the following molecules non - polar, slight polar , very polar or ionic and explain why ?Pl3 CaCl2 H2CO HCN

Homework Answers

Answer #1

PI3 - P and I have very slight electronegativity difference hence tgey are just polar.

CaCl2- it is ionic compound where calcium loses 2 electrons one each to 2 chlorine atoms to form one Ca+ ion and 2 Cl-ion.

H2CO - it is formaldehyde and it is just polar as O is slightly electronegative

HCN is a linear molecule and C is more electonegative than H and N is more electronegative than C and the polarity v3ctor poinTs from H to N where H end is somewhat eletropositive and N end is somewhat electronegative.
