Before the equivalence point during a weak acid-strong base titration, the pH will be determined from the concentration of the ____.

a. strong base

b. weak base

c. strong acid

d. weak acid

e. conjugate base

Answer #1

Before the equivaence point during the titration of weak like like HF and strong base like NaOH,the pH will be detrmined from the concnetration of NaOH which is a strong base because the weak acid will not be able to dissociate and furnish H+ ions while strong base can easily dissociate into OH- ions which can be used to calculate the concentration of H+ ion and then pH ..

while at the equivalence point pH depends on the concnetration of weak base formed which is NaF in case of above example

So option a is correct
