Calculate the milimoles threo-2,3-dibromo-3-phenylpropanoic acid. Molecular weight 308.0. Or at least explain what more I need to find millimoles.

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Molecular weight of threo-2,3-dibromo-3-phenylpropanoic acid = 308 g/mol

So,

308 g of threo-2,3-dibromo-3-phenylpropanoic acid = 1 mole

Dividing both sides by 1000, we get;

(308/1000) g of threo-2,3-dibromo-3-phenylpropanoic acid = (1/1000) mole

0.308 g of threo-2,3-dibromo-3-phenylpropanoic acid = 1 millimole

1 g of threo-2,3-dibromo-3-phenylpropanoic acid = (1/0.308) millimole = 3.25 millimole

Now,

Mole = (Mass of the compound) / (Molecular weight)

Millimoles = [(Mass of the compound) / (Molecular weight) ] x 1000

Hi! i need to calculate the Ka for acetic acid from an experiment using an ice diagram but my Ka value keeps coming up negative. I'm using the pH of the acetic acid before titration with NaOH (pH = 2.96) to get [H3o+] and [OAc] to equal 10^(-2.96) which is 1.1x10-3. And the moles of acid in my original flask was 0.004 HOAc, so can someone show me the calculations if I am doing them wrong or help me figure...
