If you set up a vacuum filtration, should the Hirsch funnel and the filter flask be connected directly to the vacuum line? Explain

Homework Answers

Answer #1

In the vacuum filtrarion has uses a buchner funnel and side-arm flask. because vacuum filtration
is faster than the gravity filtration ,because in gravity filtration has only gravity force for the
filtration but in vacuum filtration has other forceses like as the solvent or solution and air is forced
through the filter paper by the this application is resuced pressure.
The Gravity filtration can be used to collect in the solid product, although generally vacuum
filtration is used for this purpose because it is faster.

Describe the role of the melting point depression phenomenon in this Solventless Aldol Experiment. the Eperiment: Experimental Procedure: 1. in test tube, mix two solid reactants with spatula until an oil forms (melting point depression): In a small test tube, mix 0.25 g 3,4-dimethoxybenzaldehyde and 0.20 g 1-indanone. Crush the solids completely, using a glass rod or metal spatula. Caution: Avoid pressing hard on the bottom of the test tube. Continue stirring until a yellowish oil forms. 2. Add 50...

What does this solution contain? what is the purpose of using anhydrous sodium sulfate? what other compound/compounds could have been used in place of this salt?
