If student A measures the volume of a liquid and reports it's volume as 23.50ml and student B measures a different amount of the same liquid and reports it's volume as 15.0ml, is it likely that the students used the same measuring device? yes or no? explain your answer.

Answer #1

The student A and student B are using different measuring device to measure the volume of liquids

Reason: Student A has reported the answer till 2 decimal places whereas Student B has reported the answer till the first decimal place, hence the student A device has higher accuracy since it can tell the value upto 2 decimal places whereas student B has the readings level that have the least possible value of 0.1 cm

Hence the measuring devices used by the two students differ with each other

A student was assigned the task of determining the identity of an unknown liquid. The student weighed a clean, dry 250-mL Erlenmeyer flask. The student completely filled the flask with water. He then proceeded to weigh the flask containing the water. Mass of 250-mL Erlenmeyer flask: 78.639 g Mass of 250-mL Erlenmeyer flask and water: 327.039 g Assuming the density of water is 1.00 g/mL at ambient temperature, what is the exact volume (in mL) of the 250-mL Erlenmeyer flask?...

A technician measures the specific heat capacity of an unidentified liquid by immersing an electrical resistor in it. Electrical energy is converted to heat, which is then transferred to the liquid for 124s at a constant rate of 65.3 W. The mass of the liquid is .779 kg and it’s temperature increases from 18.62 C to 22.51 C. A) find the average specific heat of the liquid in this temperature range. Assume that negligible heat is transferred to the container...

1. A liquid at rest in a fixed container exerts a force perpendicular to the wall of the container. Two students make claims about the microscopic cause of this force. Student A says that the force exerted by individual molecules as they bounce off the wall is always perpendicular to the wall. Student B says that the molecules may strike the wall at angles that are not perpendicular. Which student is correct and why? A. Student A . If the...

Suppose a student wants to collect data on whether college students are more likely to watch movies or listen to music. To figure this out, the student posts the question on their social media account. The student receives 301 replies, with 201 students preferring listening to music, and the remaining 100 preferring watching movies. The student concludes college students are more likely to prefer listening to music online. Without performing any tests, answer the following. (a) What was one potential...
