If you combine 440.0 mL of water at 25.00 °C and 140.0 mL of water at 95.00 °C, what is the final temperature of the mixture? Use 1.00 g/mL as the density of water.
Solution :-
When the hot water is mixed with cold water then hot water loses the heat and cold water absorbs it to attain the equilibrium temperature.
density of water is 1 g/ml so the mass of water is same as its volume
So we can make the following set up
- hot water = cold water
-140 g *(*T2-95.00 C) = 440.0 g * (T2-25.00 C)
-140 T2 + 13300 = 440 T2 - 11000
13300 + 11000 = 440 T2 + 140 T2
24300 = 580 T2
24300 / 580 = T2
41.89 C =T2
so the final temperature of the mixture is 41.89 oC
