Answer: In single bond means in a sigma bond there is a head to head overlapping . and in the case of Pi bond there is a side- side overlapping it take place and in genereal the S orbital are non directional in nature whearas the pi bond measn they are directional in nature and they are side-side overlapping generally weak as head to head overlapping

Thats why we can say that the reactivity of double bond is high as compare to single bond .

permanganate oxidation of alkynes initially leads to the formation of diones. this shows the reactivity of permanganate ion .
