25.3g of gas HBr is kept in a 15L solid wall container. What will be pressure of this gas at 125 degrees of celsius?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Given that

Mass of HBr = 25.33 g

Volume V = 15 L

T = 125 oC = (125 + 273) K = 398 K

Number of moles of HBr = given mass of HBr/ Molar mass = 25.3 g / 80.91 g = 0.3127 moles

We have to calculate pressure P by using the ideal gas equation as follows.

PV = nRT

where R = gas constant = 0.08206 L atm mol¯11.

rearrangeing the ideal gas equation

P = nRT / V = (0.3127 mol *  0.08206 L atm mol¯11 * 398 K) / 15 L = 10.21 L atm / 15 L = 0.68 atm.

Hence the pressure of the gas is 0.68 atm.

Please rate the answer as thumbs up if it is correct. Thanks.
