solid cube of tin (d = 7.87 g/cm3 ). want to know the length of each side of the cube in cm, but only has a scale available. measured the mass of the cube to be 0.9530 g. What is the length of each side of the cube in cm?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

We know that density , d = mass/volume

Given

density , d = 7.87 g/cm3

mass , m = 0.9530 g

So Volume , V = mass/density

                      = 0.9530 g / 7.87 (g/cm3)

                      = 0.121 cm3

We know that the volume of the cube , V = length3

So length , l = V 1/3

                  = (0.121 cm3 )1/3

                  = 0.494 cm

Therefore the length of the cube is 0.494 cm
