How much strontium chloride (SrCl2) is needed to make 100 ml of a 2.0 molar SrCl2 solution?
MW of strontium = 87.62 g/mol
MW of chlorine = 35.45 g/mol

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Volume = v = 100 ml

Molarity = M = 2.0M

Molar mass of SrCl2= 158.52 gram/mole

Molarity = Mass of solute /Molar mass of solute X 1000/volume in ml

   Mass of solute= M x Molar mass of solute x volume in ml/1000

                         = 2.0 x 158.52 x 100/1000 = 31.704

Mass of solute = 31.704 grams.
