both reagents pyridinium tribromide and sodium bromide with hyphochlorite. generate Br2 which then adds to the alkene.

1)NaOCl + 2 HCl = NaCl + Cl2 + H2O

Cl2 + 2 NaBr = 2 NaCl + Br2

In aromatic compounds the mechanism of bromination is electrophillic addition.
