a purple solution containing an unknown amount of sugar was prepared. A 5.00-mL, sample of the purple solution had a mass of 5.2752g. what is the mass percentage of sugar in this solution?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Solution :-

5 ml water = 5.0 g

mass of solution = 5.2752 g

so the mass of the sugar = 5.2752 g - 5.0 g = 0.2752 g

now lets calculate the mass peercent of the sugar

% mass = (mass of sugar / mass of solution )*100%

               = (0.2752 g 5.2752 g)*100%

               = 5.22 %

so the mass percent of the sugar is 5.22 %

A solution was prepared by mixing 10.00 mL of unknown (X) with 5.00 mL of standard (S) containing 8.24 μg S/mL and diluting to 50.0 mL. The measured signal quotient (signal due to X/signal due to S) was 1.69. In a separate experiment, it was found that, for equal concentrations of X and S, the signal due to X was 0.930 times as intense as the signal due to S. Find the concentration of X in the unknown.
