if the slope of the calibration curve of absorbance vs concentration is 0.0681x+0 (mg/mL) how would I determine the concentration of a diluted solution (1/8 diluted with 0.424 absorbance)

Homework Answers

Answer #1

From the slope

slope of calibration curve = molar absorptivity

                                         = 0.0681 M-1.cm-1

with an absorbance of 0.424

concentration = absorbance/molar absorptivity

                       = 0.424/0.0681

                       = 6.23 M

This is for diluted solution

So concentration of original solution = 6.23 x 8

                                                          = 49.84 M
