Question

What is the reaction between sodium nitrite and copper nitrate?

What is the reaction between sodium nitrite and copper nitrate?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Ans. Both the salts are highly soluble in water because they are salts of strong bases and strong acid HNO3.

When mixed with each other, they both dissociate into their respective ions. All the ions remain in solvated state and form no precipitate due to common ion effect.

That is, there would be no net reaction between the salts.

Solubility of NaNO3 = 73.0 g/ 100 mL

Solubility of Cu(NO3)2 = 381 g/ 100 mL

# NaNO3(aq) + Cu(NO3)2(aq) ------> Na+(aq) + Cu2+(aq) + 3 NO3-(aq)
