A photon being emitted from x-ray device used in a medical instrument has a wavelength of 55pm. What is its frequency in tetrahertz? What is its energy?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

C = VL

c = light velocity = 3*10^8 m/s

v = frequency of X-RAY = X Hz

L = wave length of X-RAY = 55 pm

3*10^8 = V*(55*10^-12)

V = frequency of X-RAY = 5.45*10^18 hZ

   1 tetra-Hz = 10^12 Hz

V = frequency of X-RAY = 5.45*10^6 tetra-hZ

Energy of T1 (E) = hc/l

   h = planks constant = 6.625*10^-34 j.s

   c = light velocity = 3*10^8 m/s

   l = wavelength = 55 pm = 55*10^-12 m

       = (6.625*10^-34*3*10^8/(55*10^-12))

       = 3.614*10^-15 joule
