How does breathing and life support relate to Chemistry?

Breathing is one of the most important process occuring in the body , without which the survival of a person is impossible. Breathing helps to take in oxygen from the atmosphere into the body and releasing carbon dioxide outside the body.

This oxygen helps in the oxidation of the glucose present in our body to supply for the energy required for all the biochemical reactions.

In the case of patients whose breathing is suspended or has problem in breathing, they are supplied with a life support , which helps them to breathe and take in oxygen , so that the necessary processes of the body can continue occuring.
