Hydrochloric acid is prepared by bubbling hydrogen chloride gas through water. What is the concentration in mol/L of a solution prepared by dissolving 225.0 L of HCl(g) at 37.0°C and 0.8842 atm in 5.250 L of water?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

V    = 225 L

T    = 35+273   = 308K

P   = 0.8842atm

PV   = nRT

n    = PV/RT

     = 0.8842*225/0.0821*308    = 7.87moles

no of moles of HCl   = 7.87 moles

molarity of HCl   = no of moles / volume in L

                            = 7.87/5.25    = 1.5 mole/L >>>>>answer
