Why does no reaction exist when the reactants are NaNO3 + AgCLO4
Please explain
In this case, firstly we have to write the molecular and net ionic reaction for these two reactants NaNO3 and AgClO4, then we will see is there any spectator ions are present. Spectator ions are those which do nottake part in the reaction.
Molecular Equation:
NaNO3 + AgClO4 ---------------> NaClO4 + AgNO3
Ionic Equation:
Na+ + NO3- + Ag+ + ClO-4 ----------------> Na+ + NO3- + Ag+ + ClO-4
If we see ions cancel out.
Spectator Ions: All are spectator ions.
So there is no net reaction that is why no reaction occurs.
