Which of the following organic compounds has the highest molar mass? C5H11NO3 C7H11NO C9H18 C4H8N2O4

Which of the following organic compounds has the highest molar mass? C5H11NO3 C7H11NO C9H18 C4H8N2O4

Homework Answers

Answer #1

molar mass of C = 12.0107 gm/mole, molar mass of H = 1.008 gm/mole

molar mass of N = 14.0067 gm/mole , molar mass of O = 15.999 gm/mole

now calculate molar mass of given compound

C5H11NO3 = (5 X 12.0107) + (11 X 1.008) + (1 X 14.0067) + (3 X 15.999) = 133.1452 gm/mole

C7H11NO = (7 X 12.0107) + (11 X 1.008) + (1 X 14.0067) + (1 X 15.999) = 125.1686 gm/mole

C9H18 = (9 X 12.0107) + (18 X 1.008) = 126.2403 gm/mole

C4H8N2O4 = (4 X 12.0107) + (8 X 1.008) + (2 X 14.0067) + (4 X 15.999) = 148.1162 gm/mole

therefore compound C4H8N2O4 have highest molar mass
