if according to the following reaction, how much (in grams) of water vapor can you expect if 4.50 grams of O2 reacts completely?
2 H2(g) +O2(g) --> H2O(g)
given reaction is
2H2 + O2 ------------> H2O(at first we have to balance the equation)
now balanced equation is -
2H2 + O2---------------------> 2H2O
now mole of oxygen = mass / molar mass , molar mass of oxygen is 32 g
= 4.50/32 = 0.140625 mole
now observe the reaction (balanced) that 1 mole of O2 reacts and produces 2 mole of water so,
0.140625 mole will react and give 0.140625*2 mole of water vapours = 0.28125 mole
molecular mass of water is 18 .
total mass = 18*0.28125 = 5.0625 g of water .............
