Suppose a TLC plate runs a mixture of glycerophospholipid, tryacylglycerol (TAG), and fatty acid. Sketch the TLC plate after it has been developed, showing the approximate location of each component on the plate. (The TLC plate is Polar)

Answer #1

TLC plate is made by polar molecules. hence there will be a polar polar interaction. Because of this interaction polar molecule will bind strongly with TLC plate. Out of given 3 molecules  fatty acid is more polar. Hence it will not move from base line because of polar polar interaction followed by  glycerophospholipid which is less polar than fatty acid moves in TLC little bit. tryacylglycerols are almost non polar since all acids from fatty acids are converted to esters which moves faster in TLC and shows higher Rf Value than other 2 compounds.
