What is the benefit of determining the NMR yield rather than the isolated yield for a reaction screen?

Answer #1

The benefit of determining the NMR yield rather than the isolated yield for a reaction screen is very simple. For some reaction product isolation is very tough for that case NMR yield help, Again for screening of a reaction we generally start with very small amount of starting material. And in that case to isolate small amount of product is very difficult, iN that case also nmr yield helps. SOme cases some amount of product is lost during work up/isolation. Then the isolated yield wont be perfect. So that cases also nmr yield helps to get the exact yield.
