you are doing a research on a space station located on Planet Z. the temp is 29.85 in the space stattion and the air pressure is is 727.6 mm Hg. A ballon with a voulme of 338.9 l inside the space station where the atomospheric pressure is 0.2atm. The voulme of the baloon changes to 575.1 ml. What is the temp

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Given : Temp. T1= 29.85 + 273.15 = 303 K

Pressure P1 = 727.6 mm Hg = 0.9574 atm

Volume V1 = 338.9 litre

Temp, T2 = ?

Pressure P2 = 0.2 atm

Volume V2 = 575.1 ml = 0.575 litre

We have relation PV = nRT

Here P1V1= n R T1 --------> 1 and P2V2= n R T2 ---------> 2

Here n is same so dividing equation 1 by equation 2 we get

P1 V1 / P2V2 = T1/ T2

( 0.9574 atm x  338.9 litre / 0.2 atm x 0.575 litre ) = 303 K / T2

2821.4 = 303 K/ T2

T2 = 303K / 2821.4

T2 = 0.1074 K

Chemical Reactions Types and Their Equations Making Heat with Chemical Reactions Have you ever wondered how an instant heat pack works? A disposable heat pack works by a chemical reaction that combines iron in the package with oxygen from the air when the outer packaging is removed producing iron oxide. You have probably seen the product of this reaction in what is commonly called rust. The reaction releases heat, which allows the pack to reach a sufficient temperature that is...
