Why does Frriedel Crafts not proceed with OCH3 group on benzene? How would it have proceeded?

fridel crafts reaction is an electrophilic substitution reaction

all +M groups are ring activating groups.As it is a electrophilic substitution the electrophile is deficient of electrons.Therefore for an electrophile to enter the ring the ring should have more electron density.Therefore electron donating groups like alkyl groups on the benzene favours the fridel crafts reaction

all -M groups are ring deactivators.Groups like OCH3 withdraw electrons from the ring,therefore these groups on the benzene ring do not favour fridel crafts reaction
