There are a variety of techniques that can be used for qualitative and quantitative analysis of the crystalline componenents present in a natural mineral sample.

X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) : It is one the most accurate and reliable method for the determination of composition of materials. In this an X-ray incident beam is bombarded on a sample and the detection of diffracted photons help in determining the properties such as crystal structure, index of crystalline phases and quantitative analysis of the sample.
