A steel tank contains gas at a pressure of 6.50 atm at 30.0 degrees Celsius. At what temperature will the pressure decrease to 5.00 atm?

Answer #1

PV= nRT

P = Pressure in atm                       V= Volume in Liter

n = no of moles               R = 0.0821 L atm K-1 Mol-1

T = Temperature in Kelvin

In this equation, to realt Pressure and temperature directly n, R and V are constants

P1/ T1 = P2 /T2

6.5 / 303 = 5 / T2

T2 = 5 x 303 /6.5 = 233.07 K

Let us convert into Deg Cel

T2 = 39.92 Deg Cel

Hence at  39.92 Deg Cel the pressure decrease to 5.00 atm
