Does solvation change the predicted activation energies for ionization? Explain
Solvation shows the interaction of solvent with molecules or ions in a solute. Therefore, an electrolyte solution can affect the rate of chemical reaction in different ways firstly it operates through equilibrium solvation of reactants as compared to the transition state thus, leading to the modification of the activation energy barrier for ionization and reaction path. This predicted the solvation changes the activation energies for ionization.
Also,Solvation sometimes changes if the relaxation of the solution is much faster than the rate of reaction thus the reacting system always be in equilibrium with the surrounding ions and solvent molecules.
