Answer #1

to find the acceptable percentage error we first need to analyse the detection limit of HPLC. the limit up to which the sensitivity of the instrument to detect the sample of our choice. we can use the signal to noise ratio from the samples with known concentrations of analyte starting from the lowest and increasing to a certain value. Now we can run the samples in HPLC to see what is the lowest concentration that gets detected and take their ratio. The acceptable ratio is between 2-3.

also from the graph plotted for various concentration, we can use this formula:

A manufacturing company’s quality control personnel have recorded the proportion of defective items for each of 500 monthly shipments of one of the computer components that the company produces. The data are in the file P07_07.xlsx. The quality control department manager does not have sufficient time to review all of these data. Rather, she would like to examine the proportions of defective items for a sample of these shipments. For this problem, you can assume that the population is the...

A quality control technician needs to determine the percentage of arsenic (As) in a particular pesticide. The pesticide is dissolved and all of the arsenic present is converted to arsenate ions (AsO43-). Then the amount of AsO43- is determined by titrating with a solution containing silver ions (Ag+). The silver reacts with the arsenate according to the following net ionic equation: 3 Ag+(aq) + AsO43-(aq) --> Ag3AsO4(s) When a 1.0435 g sample of pesticide was analyzed this way, it required...

A quality control specialist for a restaurant chain takes a random sample of size 12 to check the amount of soda served in the 16 oz. serving size. The sample mean is 13.10 with a sample standard deviation of 1.55. Assume the underlying population is normally distributed. We wish to construct a 95% confidence interval for the true population mean for the amount of soda served. What is the error bound? (Round your answer to two decimal places.)

You are analysing Ca levels in the Canning River using atomic emission spectroscopy. When taking your samples you notice a large microalgal bloom nearby suggesting the presence of a large amount of phosphate in the river. Explain if the phosphate will have an effect on your analysis and, if so, what steps can you take to deal with this?

The course on Industrial Quality Control is meant to provide a comprehensive coverage of the basic subject knowledge. The goal is to give you a thorough understanding of these basic methods and as a result does not cover every single method or all the latest topics. However, by the end of the class you should have developed the appropriate tool set to be able to do further reading on topics in this area and be able to understand the concepts....
