List how the qualitative tests (Tollens' silver mirror test, schiff test, and haloform reaction and iodoform test) can be used to distinguish acetaldehyde and 2-propanone.

Thus 2-propanone being a ketone does not respond to Schif's test (no silver miror forms) or Schiff's test (no pink coloration).

Both give 2,4-DNP test and iodoform test which confirm the presence of carbonyl group in both.

Schiff's and Tollens' test are given by aldehydes only. Thus we can diffeentiate the compounds easily.
