Select all of the following that are capable of hydrogen bonding. Please give a brief description as to why so I can understand. Thank you!

CH3CH2NH2, NH3, CH3OH, PF2H, HBr, NF3, H2CO, CF3H

Homework Answers

Answer #1

For hydrogen bond to be formed, there must be hydrogen attached to either of Nitrogen, Oxygen or fluorine

CH3CH2NH2: hydrogen is attached to Nitrogen. So, hydrogen bond is formed

NH3: hydrogen is attached to Nitrogen. So, hydrogen bond is formed

CH3OH: hydrogen is attached to oxygen. So, hydrogen bond is formed

PF2H: condition not met. So, no hydrogen bond here

HBr: condition not met. So, no hydrogen bond here

NF3: condition not met. So, no hydrogen bond here

H2CO: condition not met. So, no hydrogen bond here

CF3H: condition not met. So, no hydrogen bond here

Coordination Compound Naming! I have 6 compounds to name. I named all 6, but please check my answer and if wrong, please explain why and how to do it. Thank you so much! 1. [Pt(NH3)4Cl2]SO4  - tetraamminedichloroplatinum (IV) sulfate 2. K3[Mo(CN)6F2] - potassium hexacyanodifluoromolybdenate (V) 3. K[Co(EDTA)] - potassium ethylenediaminetetraacetate cobaltate(III) Note: For the cobalt oxidations state, I calculated it to be +3 because EDTA has a charge of -4 and and K is +1. So, it needs to be +3...
