Homework Answers

Answer #1

5)

10% of formalin solution means 10 g of formalin in 100 mL of alcoholic solution.

percentage of solution = mass of the compound/volume of the solution * 100

1% = 10/V*100

V = volume of the 1% solution = 1000 mL

if 100 mL of 10% solution is present then we have to add 900 ml alcohol to get 1% of solution.

But we have only 10 mL of 10% solution is present then we have to add 90 mL of Alcohol to get 1% of solution.

so add 90 mL of Alcohol to 10% of 10 mL of Formalin.

Total volume of 1% of Formalin solution = 100 mL

Volume of absolute alcohol = 90 mL

6)

Percent of solution = volume of the meth blie stock/total volume of the soltion * 100

Percent of solution = 0.375mL/50mL * 100

percent of solution = 0.75%
