Solve for x.
4.3 = - log [x]
I need to solve pH problem but forgot how to solve logs. So please explain step by step.
Please type, no handwriting.
According to the eq
4.3 = - log(x)
x= antilog(-4.3)
1. For calculating antilog , it having 2 parts one is characteristic that comes before decimal point & mantissa that comes after the decimal point. Here the characteristic is- 4 & mantissa is 3.
2. For -4.3 add +5 & -5.
= -4.3+ 5 - 5 = -5+(5- 4.3)= -5+0.7. use the antilog table find the actual digit of 0.7. it is 5012.
here the base is always 10.
so 5012 is multiplied with 10-5
x = 5012 x 10-5
