Rick learns that in zombies muscle phosphorylase kinase is fully active all of the time which allows their muscles to continue working even though their brain is dead (I know this is extreme but stay with me). So he has Eugene develop a single toxin (Strontiumzombicide) that they can spray on zombies that will inhibit phosphorylase kinase, thereby stopping muscle use and the zombies will not be able to "walk" anymore. Unfortunately, they make a mistake in their assumption there was only one binding site of the kinase to inhibit. Strontiumzombicide only slows the zombies down but does not stop them all together. Explain how Strontiumzombicide likely binds to phosphorylase kinase and why it did not work to completely inhibit the kinase.

Answer #1

The active site in the region of phosphorylase kinase, where Strontiumzombicide molecules will start
bind and undergo a chemical reaction. So, through a chemical reaction strontium zombicide will
bind on to the surface of the kinase enzyme.
Sometimes the active sites on the surface of the enzyme may tend to form weak bonds with
strontiumzombicide because they already contain residues from previous reactions which
might end up acting as catalysts. So, everytime you spray strontium zombicide the reaction
will take place for certain time and after sometime the substrate ie) Sr Zombicide will be
inhibited by leftover residues as you should know that there are many active sites on kinase
that are ready to bind with Sr.Zombicide. This is the reason why it will not work completely.
