How much water would be needed to completely dissolve 1.45L of the gas at a pressure of 750torr and a temperature of 29 degrees Celsius?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Answer : According to question we have

volume of gas = 1.45 L

Pressure = 750 torr

we know 1 torr = 0.001315 atm

hence 750 torr = 0.986 atm pressure

Temperature =29 0C = 302 K

now using ideal gas equation

PV = nRT we get

here R is real gas constant = 0.082 L atm K-1 mol-1

now puting all the values we get

0.986 * 1.45 = n * 0.082 * 302

n = 0.057 mol of water is required

hence 1.039 g of water is needed to completely dissolve 1.45 L of the Gas at 750 torr and a temperature of 29 0C
