1) Allura red is red in colour because it absorb the light in the wave length range of blue colour (i.e, 470 nm) and reflects the red wave length. hence we choose the wave length of 470 nm to monitor.

Thus if a substance is red in colour it absorbs all other wave length except red.

2) In order to decrease the concentration to half, simply increase the volume to double.

for example, if we have 250 ml of 1m then solution, we can add distilled water upto 500 ml. Now the concentration is 0.5m.
